Humans Suck
Animal rescue is hard because we see the worst in people every day. The cruelty, the ignorance, the bitterness, the hatred.
But it’s inspiring because we also see the best in people. The empathy, the generosity, the tenderness, the selflessness.
We had a couple cases this month of clear abuse by owners that put acid in our hearts (and took $1,171.54 from our savings).
Please consider contributing to the vet funds of Flamingo and Yodelai. Be the best in people. ❤️🩹
Flamingo was shot with a pellet gun, shattering one of her legs. She was left that way, with two projectiles lodged in her body. Her owners were happy to use her for eggs but refused to treat her horrific injuries. Our vet tried to restore her quality of life by amputating her leg but unfortunately she did not recover from the procedure.
Yodelai is a sweet geriatric goat (her front teeth are gone so she’s at least 10 years old). When she started to limp and her hooves looked fine, we brought her in for an x-ray. It revealed that she had a sternum injury consistent with getting kicked in the chest. Now that she’s getting older, the arthritis is making the extra bone growth much more painful.
